On March 18th, 2008, over a thousand Tibetan nomads and farmers protested in Bora Township in Sangchu, Amdo Tibet (Tib: འབོ་ར། Ch: 夏河 Xiahe, Gansu Province ). Protesters replaced the Chinese flag with the Tibetan flag at the township’s primary and middle schools. The protestors then proceeded towards the county government headquarters but were repelled by Chinese soldiers who shot tear-gas and dispersed the crowd. Head injuries and broken legs were reported.
