Samten, a Tibetan man, has been sentenced to three years in prison through a secret trial, and his younger sister was arbitrarily beaten and hospitalized.

Samten from Tsochen county, Ngari in Tibet, was reportedly sentenced by the Chinese authorities on 2 April 2024. A concerned Tibetan aware of this matter informed Tibet Times, “The reasons for the sentence of Samtan are still unknown. The information of his sentence
was conveyed by authorities three months after his arrest. His current location and his health remain unknown.”

The source added, “Following Samten’s secret sentence, his younger sister, Paldon, approached the police station of Tsochen county appealing for the reasons for his arrest and secret sentence. Authorities denied her request, and a heated argument occured between the police and Paldon. Subsequently, she was severely beaten by officers and admitted to the hospital of Tsochen County for medical treatment.”

Samten is 36 years old and hails from Chulho township, Tsochen County, Ngari in Tibet. His father’s name is Dorjee.
