Pema, a Tibetan monk from Ngaba Kirti monastery was arrested by Chinese police during a peaceful protest on ‘Martyr’s Road’ of Ngaba county and intensified restrictions by deploying a huge number of armies in the concerned areas.

According to the reliable source of Tibet Times, recently, on 26 March 2024, a Tibetan monk from Kirti monastery named Pema staged a peaceful solo protest against the Chinese rule in Tibet on the Martyr’s Road holding a huge picture of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in his hand and shouting slogans. Immediately following his protest, the Chinese police arrested and took him away, and intensified restrictions for the local residents by deploying a huge number of armies in Ngaba town and Kirti monastery.

Currently, his full name, family background, what is his protesting slogan and whereabouts right after his arrest remain unknown.

Pema hails from Surima village, Ngaba county in Tibet. He was studying in the class of Buddhist philosophy (Karamchuwa) and additionally, working as a teacher for the preliminary Buddhist study section in Kirti Monastery.
