Library Director of Ngaba Kirti Monastery arrested

Monk Thamke Gyatso, the library director of Ngaba Kirti Monastery was arrested and detained on alleged charges of contacting with foreign entities and publishing books received from abroad. It has been over eight months since his arrest.

 According to a reliable source told Tibet Times, “In June of 2023, the Chinese policemen arrested monk Thamke Gyatso for claims of contacting the outside world and publishing books received from three major Gelukmonasteries in South India. It has been over eight years since his arrest, yet other detailed information such as whether a sentence has passed, remain unknown.”

 Lobsang Thamke, 54 hails from Nomadic camp 3 of Meuruma village, Ngaba county, Tibet. His father’s name is Katson and mother’s Shuka.
