The Chinese government imprisoned a Tibetan woman, Semkyi Dolma from Dhamgzhong County on trumped-up charges of sending ‘State Secrets’ abroad.

As China’s restriction on the internet continues, mobile phones are being monitored everywhere in Tibet and subsequently, people are being arrested and detained. Like many other Tibetans, Semkyi Dolma, was sentenced to one and half years in prison on alleged charges of contacting foreign agencies, organizations and individuals as a spy and sharing ‘state secrets’ with them.

Our reliable source informed Tibet Times that Semkyi Dolma was suddenly arrested by police of Dhamgzhong County in October of this year and disappeared. On the 2nd of December, her family members were informed with a notification that she had been sentenced to one and half years in prison.

Another concerned Tibetan told Tibet Times that there are no other reasons for the arrest of Semkyi Dolma, but she used to participate in Wechat groups regarding Buddhism. This is illegal by the Chinese government and imprisoned her.

Following the arrest of Semkyi Dolma, it is said that her family members have worried about her. Her brother, Tsedo went to the police station four times questioning about his sister, but received no answers.

Semkyi Dolma was born and grew up in Chumarlebcounty, Qinghai Province, Tibet. In 2019, she came to Dakha township, Dhamgzhong county as a bride.
