Wangchuk Tso was arrested on alleged charges of sharing a photograph of the 14th Dalai Lama in a group chat on social media.

On 26th October 2023, the Chinese police reported that a Tibetan woman, Wangchuk Tso was arrested because she had shared a photograph of the Dalai Lama in a WeChat group. Since her arrest, it has been two weeks, yet nothing is known about her condition.

A concerned source for Tibet Times said, “While some of Wangchuk Tso’s family members went to the local police station and asked about her condition, they were told that she had shared a photograph of the Dalai Lama in a Wechat group. She also had contact with some Tibetans living in exile through written messages. For these reasons, the family members were not allowed to meet her. Immediately following, the mobile phone of Wangchuk’s husband was also confiscated and not returned.”

Wangchuk Tso is from Dronglong Village, Dhola County, Haibie Prefecture, Qinghai Province (Chinese divided area). Any additional details are yet to be known.
