On July 21st, a non-Tibetan tourist kicked and tumbled the Tibetan holy Mani stone mound near Mount Everest in Dingri County, Shigatse, Tibetan Autonomous Region.
The video of this incident has gone viral; he is currently being detained and interrogated by the Shigatse police.
Following the viral sharing of the video, many comments about this incident were going around about hurting the sentiments and disrespecting Tibetan culture, and some even considered kicking holy Mani stone mounds as looking down on Tibetan religion and culture.
Except for him being detained, the Chinese authorities have not disclosed any detailed information about this tourist yet.
Last year October 8th, a Chinese woman in Lhasa called out for exterminating all Tibetans in Lhasa and needed to be controlled by the Chinese. The viral video was criticized by many Tibetans from inside and outside Tibet for her totalitarian and extreme comments.
The next day, the Lhasa police officials announced that a person named Lio had commented on dismantling the national unity and further investigation for the case was in process, and the decision would be taken in accordance with the law.
