Tsering Tso, a female Tibetan tour guide, has been placed under house arrest by the Chinese authorities.

According to information obtained by Tibet Times from a reliable source, a Tibetan female tour guide, Tsering Tso, has been placed under house arrest at her home in Trikha County (Guide County). The Chinese government has accused her of “ making identity documents via the internet without the approval of the Chinese government” and “instigating social unrest.”
A source associated with Tibet Times stated, “ The Chinese government has placed Tsering Tso under house arrest. Strict restrictions continue to be imposed on her movements and so on.” Currently, Tsering Tso’s lawyer, Liang Xiaojun, is litigating at the Trikhar County People’s Court to seek a fair trial and judgment for her. Lin Xiaojun has previously represented Tibetan language rights activists Tashi Wangchuk and Dorje Tashi.
On November 29th, 2024, Tsering Tso was detained for two weeks after being accused of “spreading false information on WeChat.” Before her detention, on November 20th, 2024, she had posted a video on her personal WeChat account, criticising the Chinese government for denying her the issuance of a passport, restricting her movements and harassing and intimidating her family. Since 2017, the Chinese government has detained Tsering Tso five times.
