The Chinese government arrested a young Tibetan monk, Tenzin Chenrab, well known by his pen name, Dhong Rangchak. His mother’s health condition has become weaker due to worry about her son.
Over the past years, the Chinese government strictly has oppressed scholars, writers, and critics inside Tibet on different allegations. The Tibetan poet Dhong Rangchak was arrested a year ago, in 2023, on charges of possessing His Holiness, the Dalai Lama’s photograph, in his mobile phone.
A reliable source told Tibet Times, “The Chinese government has arrested Tenzin Chenrab on alleged charges of possessing the Dalai Lama’s photograph and various e-books in his phone. It has been over one year since his arrest, yet his whereabouts and health condition remain unknown as the Chinese authorities informed nothing about him or his family members.”
The source added, “Due to his arrest and being held incommunicado for a long time, his mother, Wodhi, has been worrying about her son, and her health condition is getting worse. This information could not pass to the outside world until now because of severe restrictions inside Tibet.”
The poet Dhong Rangchak is 29 years old. He hails from I Village, Lower Wuthok, Nyakchu county, Tibet, and used to study in Wuthok monastery, Lithang Gonchen, and Dzachu Ka. he is well-educated in both Tibetan and Chinese language. He loves writing. He has one member of his family, his mother, who is 53 years old.
