Tsering Tso, a Tibetan woman, has been detained on trumped up charges of criticisizing actions of police and break civil and internet regulations.
On 19 December 2023, police of Drachen County issued a statement saying that on the afternoon of the 19th of December, Tsering Tso did not cooperate with a road side check of her vehicle with one passenger. This resulted in imposed restrictions of her freedom of movement. It was stated, that subsequently, she has bvroken the civil and internet regulations by circulating three different video clips of the incident. Which authorities deem critical and false.
A reliable source of Tibet Times said, “Since 2015, Tsering Tso has courageously exposed illegal actions of the Chinese police such as bullying, intimidation, and discriminating against Tibetans. She has done it in accordance with the Chinese Constitution. She says that despite the reoccuring arrests and detentions she faces, she will always stand up for justice.
Another statement issued by the police of Drachen County on 1 November 2022, she was detained for ten days by Lhasa police for not folling the rules of the Covid-19 lockdown. On 26 October 2023, Tsering Tso was again detained for 15 days by Kyegudo police on charges of spreading misinformation.
Tsering Tso hails from Trika County, (Qinghai Province) Tibet. She is 39 years old.
