Tsultrim from Tsaruma village, Chongchu County, Ngaba Tibet was arrested in July 2022 after finding photos of Dalai Lama on his mobile phone and detained for two months. Later a secret trail was conducted in the People’s court, Ngaba County in April 2023 and sentenced him with two year imprisonment term on the alleged charge of separatism. Currently he is serving his sentence in Yak-Nga prison in Sichuan Province, Tibet.

It is not the first time that he was arrested for possession of Dalai Lama photograph incident. According to reliable source of Tibet Times, “Tsultrim was summoned by Ngaba’s Chongchu County police in July 2022 for posting Dalai Lama photograph in his Wechat moment. During the interrogation, police examined and found Dalai Lama photograph in his mobile phone owing to which he was detained and later release in September 2022. Recently it is very difficult to relay information to the outside of Tibet due to tight crackdown.”

Another source of Tibet Times said, “Some friends and family members of Tsultrim went to visit him, but they all were not allowed to meet him. Tsultrim is a young educated man who is good in Tibetan, Chinese and English. He usually shares photos of Dalai Lama and information about Middle Way Approach through Wechat”

His father’s name is Apen and mother’s Akuma. He has specialized in Tibetan Literature and also he knows Chinese and English well. He often used to give speeches on literature in various educational platforms.
